We will be packing 3 weekend snack bags for the children to take home over the holiday season. WE ARE IN NEED OF FOOD! If there is anyway you can add a little to your grocery buggy this week, the children would be grateful. All food needs to be non perishable and individually wrapped. Such as ramen noodle, chicken noodle soup, pudding, applesauce, crackers and/or fruit cups. This is just a sample list to give you ideas. Thanks to everyone for all you do to help these children!!
Waiting, waiting and waiting…!
When I take the snacks to school on Fridays the staff has a cart that I load the snacks on. This past Friday the cart wasn’t in the closet. Someone was using it. I had to wait..and wait..and wait. While I waiting for the cart to be returned I thought about all the times God has waited on me. He waited for 4 months for me to start feeding these very children. What is God waiting for you to do?
Humbled..
As I was leaving the school today a young mother stopped me. She thanked me over and over for the the weekend snack bags that her children receive. It humbled me because without God I could not do this. He provides it all. Several weeks ago he brought a dear friend from my past back into my life. Not only does she help with funding but she also helped me pack the meals this week. God is truly Feeding His Flock!
How Do You See God?
I read a devotion today that asked whether we see our circumstances through the filter of God’s Word or see God through the filter of our circumstances. When we go through difficult times it can pull us closer or drive us away from God. It is a choice. My prayer is that these children will have the opportunity to know the Lord so that their hearts are not hardened by their circumstances.
Raining tears
Wipers on high as I took the meal packs to Red Bank this morning. The rain reminded me of tears. I wondered how many tears parents had shed because they are unable to feed their children. How many children had cried because they are hungry, again. I ask God to wipe the tears away and cover them, parents and children with his mighty wings. Nothing is too big for our JESUS!
You are the Givers…
Received a card this week signed by many of the children that receive a meal pack. The card said, “In this world there are takers and there are givers. You are a giver.” With tears in my eyes, I thought about all of YOU…you are the GIVERS. The ones that supply the food, the money and the time. I thank each and everyone of you for the children.
Obedience to God Increases Faith!
You may have heard that faith increases as a result of our obedience to God in the little things.
God spoke to me last September at the Harvest when Pastor Ken mentioned thousands of elementary age school children went home on the weekend without enough to eat. After debating with God that I couldn’t feed all those children, God told me I didn’t need to feed them all, just all that I could.
God is always on time!
I’m sitting here looking at the meal bags lining my office. Thinking about the little hands that will grab the bags tomorrow. The precious children I pray for, the bags I pray over and the families I ask God to bless. Earlier this week I wasn’t sure I would have enough food to fill the bags. I prayed…food came and bags were filled. Our God is always on time!
Grocery Day!
A teacher shared that one of her students came to class on Friday beaming. His entire demeanor had changed that morning. When asked what he was excited about he shouted, “it’s grocery day!” In our great nation, no child should go hungry. This story revealed only a small part of the problem and confirmed that Feeding His Flock can help to fill this void.
Have You Ever Been Hungry?
For most of us, hunger is something that happens in our thoughts way before it ever truly hits our bodies. Sadly, there are people living near by who have a different definition of hunger.
Picture for a moment, an elementary school child, getting a nice meal five days a week. Then, that same child goes to a home where there never seems to be quite enough to go around. Maybe dad is looking for a way to pay the bills and still feed the family after losing his job last year. Or maybe it’s mom in that boat and there is no “dad” to help out.
We recently learned that in Lexington County, SC alone, there are multiple thousands of young children that come back to school on Monday morning without really having enough to eat on the weekend. It represents a gap in the system that is only now really coming to light.
Thankfully, more people are helping. If you would like to help feed a child, please enter your name and email on the right…and God Bless you!
